July Warrior of the Month: Jonathan Eunice

🌟 Meet Jonathan 🌟

We're so excited to recognize Jonathan as our July Warrior of the Month! Over the past year, he's become a familiar face in the studio, showing up with consistency, determination, and a great sense of humor. His willingness to challenge himself, embrace the process, and encourage those around him is exactly what our Zen community is all about.

Learn a bit more about him below…

How long have you been coming to Zen?

Almost exactly one year. I started last summer with yoga once or twice a week, then gradually ramped up to barre, Pilates, and power sculpt. Now I’m there almost daily, minus a rest day about once a week, because apparently I have become That Person.

What do you enjoy most about being part of the studio?

The instructors are terrific, the energy is great, and the classes are consistently challenging in the best possible way. It’s never “suffer, peasant” or “just push HARDDDER!!!” It’s more “you can absolutely do this—let’s get you there.” Zen does that really well.

Have you noticed any benefits from classes or events?

Definitely. My weight is down, my strength and endurance are way up, and my doctors are happy.

But even with all that, the mental health benefits completely dwarf the physical ones. I’m much calmer, happier, and more grounded.

Science keeps shouting that regular exercise is unreasonably effective, not just for the body but also for the brain. I was skeptical. I am now a true believer. If regular exercise were a pill, it would be one of the most powerful drugs ever invented.

Any advice you’d give someone just starting out?

Anything worth doing is worth doing badly.

Be the worst at it. Be slow. Be clumsy. Be ridiculously uncoordinated. Take breaks. Modify everything. Make the exercise feasible for where you are right now. No one is judging you.

Just show up. Make progress. Rinse and repeat.

Pretty soon, the thing that once felt impossible will feel merely difficult. Then you’ll be ready to take on something harder. Lather, rinse, repeat again.

Favorite pose or movement, and why?

Right now: side planks, knee tucks, and pikes. They’re my current frontier—things I can barely do, or almost half do, which makes them both humbling and weirdly motivating.

Honorable mention goes to banded glute bridges with heel lift and hip abduction. Already a great exercise, but a definite favorite after that one unforgettable time Timea said, “Put on your stilettos and decide if you’re a good girl or a bad girl.” Apparently I’m a bad girl now. Yeehaw!

Jonathan, thank you for the positivity, laughter, and dedication you bring to our studio each day. We're so grateful you're part of the Zen family, and we can't wait to continue cheering you on in your journey. 🤍
